AmyJ
Quote: can't read security information, error -1020 (sharing violation) The error you are getting indicates that the file _permissions_ can't be read, not the files themselves. Your files are not getting backed up. Permissions are backed up all or none on your entire source via the Microsoft API. If you want NTFS permissions backed up, you will continue to see these errors. The only way around it is to turn off permissions in your backup options.
ggunn
what are the implication of turning off permissions? Those files I don't want to backup and I don't want these file_permision errors to show up in the log to confuse the casual backup clerks.
AmyJ
If you are not using permissions to limit access to files/folders in your environment there are no implications. If you are using permissions, you'll have to reassign them on restore.
