TLReed
Hi, I'm contemplating using firewire drives on a PC server to back up my network. I would use removeable sleds in a firewire case, aka Granite Digital's Smartvue. Dantz says Retrospect 6.5 supports backing up to disk in this fashion. I'm wondering if anyone is usiing this method for backup? It's advantages over tape are speed, capacity, and cost but it might be buggy and unreliable to implement. I've got over a terabyte to back up, so we're talking about spanning 4 or more 250 GB drives mounted via firewire to do a backup. Then dismounting them and remounting another set when the storage set recycles. If anyone has any experience doing this, knows that it works or is to be avoided, that would be helpful to know now. TIA.
