wangden
Hi, I'm poking around looking for clues about a bunch of recent crashes on our MacOS X 10.2.5 machine which is running Retrospect Desktop 5.0, and ran into a very long /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/RetroRunHelper.crash.log file. I split it into individual crash reports, and got 146 in the last 6 months, including 6 in the last two days alone. Looking deeper, I found that each and every one contains this: Thread 0 Crashed: #0 0x0000264c in GetPID (retrorunhelper.c:93) #1 0x000028fc in main (retrorunhelper.c:186) #2 0x000023f0 in _start #3 0x00002220 in start I can send you the whole log, but I didn't want to clog the forum system with a 183,000 line file. Not having poked too much under the hood of OS X, I don't know whether these "crashes" are crashes of the whole machine, or just the RetroRunHelper process. So, I have two questions: 1) is RetroRunHelper making our machine unstable? 2) if so, can we do without it? FWIW, here are some interesting tidbits: MacOS X 10.2.5 Dual-G4 tower, 500 MHz 768 MB RAM Retrospect Desktop 5.0.238 Thanks in advance, Wangden
