Why choose Retro 5 on OS X?

Recommended Posts

We have a Retrospect 6 multi-server setup here.

What we are planning on doing (sort of) is getting 2 other servers running at offsight locations. They would have to backup several clients at each sight (~10 at each sight) and write the data to a backup file. This file would then be sent back to our server here (via rsync or similar app) every week, wiped and reused for the next week.

What I'm wondering is what the advantages would be of using Retro 5 on OS X instead of the 2 extra liscences of Retro 4.3 server we already have.

I personally would like to at least use OS X instead of 9 for stability reasons.

Would Retro 4.3 be able to backup several Windows clients to a backup file? And what version of the client would it support?

I know that Retro 5 for Mac can backup windows clients (correct me if I'm wrong) but I can't remember if 4.3 can without any problems.

Basically I want idea's of how this could be done. I have a few but I'm not versed well enough with the software to know if they'd work.
