rustytool
I'm recovering (I hope) from a C drive crash. Running W98 SE. I followed article 26726 to recover, but I get about 1/2 way through the recovery and get a 1017 error (insufficient permission) and it quits. HELP! Thanks, Larry
AmyJ
Can you outline the exact steps you took in your restore setup?
rustytool
Hi Amy, Here's the steps I took: I booted from a w98 startup disk. I was restoring to an spare drive I had (WD 10 gig), so I formatted it with the S option. I then installed W98 and specified the Temp folder. After that completed, I rebooted (Bill Gates favorite function) and installed Retrospect 6 from my D drive where I keep all downloaded software. I then did a Find Files (I did not have a snapshot) and selected a backup I had on my E drive (I backup my C drive to my local E drive). It rebuilt the catalog and I selected Restore Entire Volume ©. It then began restoring and got the error about 1/2 way through. Larry
rustytool
One more thought I have on this problem I should have mentioned earlier. My backup contains all of my C drive and selected files from my D drive. I only specified the C drive volume when restoring. Is it possible it restored the C drive and then encountered the error because of the D drive files on the backup? The C drive appears complete, but it's hard to be sure...
