New User - error -1101

[Retropunk]

I need to backup an entire drive to a brand new firewire external drive. I try running the duplicate function and I get the following error on hundreds files then the function stops telling me the duplicate failed:

Trouble writing files, error -1101 (file/directory not found)

 

Also, my Firewire drive gets removed when the error happens. I have to unplug the firewire cable and plug it back in for it to be recognized again.

 

Any ideas?

How is the Firewire drive formatted? Have you checked it with a disk utility?

 

As a test, try duplicating the same files to a new folder on your internal drive - do you see the same behavior?
