dbarker
I have just installed Retrospect Express 5.6.132 and cannot either backup to a Freecom Classic USB drive nor restore previous backups made on a different drive and machine. Retrospect says no storage devices but the drive shows up in the environment (with the driver column empty. Trying to backup to a CD-r generates no drives accessible. Trying to backup to a removable drive generates screen where disc is allegedly busy. Trying to restore by recreating catalog (because I no longer have them) also generates a busy message. Can someone please help? The drive is a USB external drive which is actually a Samsung 240B rev.403 running unjder Win98 original edition on USB 1. The backups I really want to restore were generated on an edition of Retrospect restricted to Sony drives and made on that Sony drive (CRX160E I think). All catalogs are unavaiable. AmyJ
For backing up to a hard drive, please see the following tutorial: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27446 While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your CD drive.
