Souly
Hi ya, When making a backup set and enabling Hardware compression, it doesn't seen to use it. When it estimates the size it says '1 of 2' *GB remaining to backup. I have a Seagate travan USB drive, using the 10/20GB tapes. I am trying to backup about 18GB so it should compress it to allow it all onto one tape. Is the display wrong and will it fit it all on one tape or not? Any ideas would be helpful. AmyJ
You'll most likely need two tapes. Fitting 18 gig on a 20 gig compressed tape assumes that all of your data is compressible by almost 50%, and that you'll get full capacity out of your tapes (which typically never happens) Please see the following articles on Media Capacity and Compression for more detailed information: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=common_questions_detail&ACTION=COMMON_QUESTIONS_DETAIL&id=
