Retro BootDriveOS vs SourceOS

Recommended Posts

Can one backup a disk properly when the boot volume (from which Retrospect is run) contains an earlier version of the OS?

Specifically - I have Retro running smoothly from a disk which has 10.1.5 installed. I'm about to install OS 10.2.1 on a different disk.

I'd like to backup the 10.2.1 partition immediately following the install: one duplicate, one normal backup.

Can I safely do this while booted off the Retro/OS 10.1.5 disk.

Should it Matter:

I'm referring to Retro Desktop (NOT server edition)

Retro is installed on an External FW HD (which also contains earlier backups on a seperate partition.)

I'm not concerned about "Live Restore" at this point (I assume this not possible without upgrading RetroDiskOS)

Thanks in advance,

Alixandra
