bdgood
I just got Express 5.6 for Windows, and set up the 5 day rotation. The first day it did a full, then incrementals. Will it automatically go back to full on the first day of the weekly rotation again? Also, I have new tapes to introduce into the rotation to replace old tapes (which will be thrown away), how do I introduce those tapes properly so it doesn't bark at me that they are not the proper day? Thanks Brad
AmyJ
Yes - if you are using a 5-day rotation, Retrospect will use the Monday tape every Monday, and the Tuesday tape every Tuesday, and so on... The introduce new tapes, replacing the old, you should manually recycle the backup set as follows: Configure > Backup Sets Choose set for which you will use new tape and get Properties Options > Action > Recycle This will erase the catalog and allow you to use a new tape on the next scheduled execution to this set. bdgood
Thanks, I'll try that. What about the full backup, in a 5 day rotation, will it do a full backup once a week? Brad
bdgood
Another question... What if I just want to start over from scratch by erasing 5 new tapes - how do I tell it to wipe out everything it knows about that 5 day rotation and just start over? Thanks, Brad
AmyJ
If you want to do full backups each week, change your scripts to use Recycle (rather then Normal) backups. This is configured through Automate > Scripts > Edit > Schedule
