jelenko
Just installed Win XP Pro. But, disaster recovery image is 756MB - too big to fit on CD. Is this a known problem or is there something I can do to reduce the size? Thanks
awnews
By "image" do you mean an ".iso" file? If so, you don't just save that to a CD, you use a program (EzCD, Nero, many others) to burn a bootable CD using that ISO file.
jelenko
Right. It's the iso image that Retrospect creates for Disaster Recovery Disk. When I point Retrospect the the i386 folder on the drive, it creates the 700MB+ iso image - which is too large to burn onto a 700MB CD-R. But, if I point Retrospect to the XP install disk for the i386 folder, it creates the usual ~ 500MB iso image.
AmyJ
When creating the DR CD, Retrospect will ask for the I386 folder to pull needed files. When prompted for this folder, make sure you are using the I386 folder located on your Windows installer CD, rather then on your hard drive. The folder on your hard drive may be too populated to fit on your CD (in addition to other files Retrospect requires outside of this folder). If you only have a single CD drive, put the Windows installer CD in the drive before launching Retrospect to make the DR CD. Otherwise, Retrospect will take control of the drive. Once Retrospect has loaded a driver, Windows will not be able to load a driver and you will not be able to view the contents of your Windows installer CD.
