psternak
I had been having a hard time reconciling the number and size of files shown in the log file on Retro 5 under OSX 10.2.3 backing up a Windows 2000 server. I finally found the problem is that Retrospect is backing up the NTFS hidden directory called recycler which is created on all NTFS partitions. Even though the Windows trash is showing it is empty, these directories show VERY large data files in them when you view the hidden folders under Windows 2000 server. I question whether Retrospect should be backing up these directories at all. If a bit image backup is done, I can understand grabbing these files, but on a file backup I don't think these should be grabbed. For now I have defined subvolumes to stop their backup. peter
AmyJ
Retrospect is designed to backup all files on a drive - hidden or otherwise. If you'd like to exclude these directories, you can set up a selector that excludes folders with this name under Special > Selectors.
