rick6502
When my iMac Server was backing up the network, I kept having internal CD errors. It seemed to get worse when I was using 16x CDs. If I used some older 12x and slower less errors happened. I finally figured out this if people are accessing the server on a high speed CD it was having writing errors. So my solution is to either try to find slow cds (getting harder and harder) or find a way to get retrospect to slow down. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? AmyJ
Retrospect uses packet writing technology to write to CD and DVD drives. Packet writing speed is determined entirely by the device in use. That is, Retrospect does not determine what speed the device can support, it simply sends data to the device as fast as it can write it. It is not possible to slow down the speed via the software. While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Device Status and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive.
