Snipe
I installed Maxtor USB back-up on 1 Jan, 03 with Dantz Retrospect software. Worked just fine! Had a major computer crash two days ago. Re-formatted and re-installed Windows ME. I installed Retrospect again but cannot get one touch button to work. Tried re-installing 3 times. After installing the one-button wizard does not show and depressing button on Maxtor yields no results. Read installation procedure on Dantz site and instruction book with Maxtor. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks, Snipe
Snipe
Just removed drive and un-installed Retrospect software. Re installed exactly as outlined in Maxtor instruction book. Same result! Everything works except one-touch button. Trouble shooting guide in Maxtor book says to open Recreospect and click on Scripts button in Automate tab, look for Maxtor One Touch. None there! Frustrated is Snipe!

AmyJ
Does the drive show up in Windows Explorer with a drive letter? What happens when you use the One-Touch button on the front of the drive - do you see a set-up wizard?
Snipe
Absolutly NOTHING happened. I just installed Windows XP yesterday to replace ME. After the installation the Maxtor One Touch started working again. It puzzles me. Guess I'll never know the answer. Thank You, Snipe Bend, Oregon
Snipe
Yes, The drive showed up in Explorer and I was able to transfer files to & From the drive. Only the "One Touch" button was ignored. Thanks, Snipe
AmyJ
If the drive shows up in Windows Explorer, and the Dantz software if fully functional - yet nothing happens when you hit the One Touch button, there may be a hardware failure. I would suggest contacting Maxtor directly - they will be better able to troubleshoot hardware issues: Maxtor Support
