myrnalarson
I run Norton Internet Security 2003 (NIS) with my cable modem "always-on" system. I find that I can't post a message to the Dantz forums without disabling the firewall first. Does anyone know what settings must be changed in NIS? awnews
I'm running ZoneAlarmPro and can post. My first guess would be cookies. Take a look at NIS and also IE settings for cookie blocking. It could also be Java script or some other script blocking.
myrnalarson
Thanks for the information. Cookies are all set to "permit". The message is about an "invalid host".
myrnalarson
I found the problem: NIS was set to, by default, refuse to send information about visited sites. I am trying to change this just for this web site, but having difficulty. Adding either www.dantz.com or dantz1.conxion.com as an "exception" doesn't work, and NIS won't accept dantz1.conxion.com/ubbthreads as the URL (illegal characters -- the slash). I have to change the default settings for all sites. That's a real bummer...
