myrnalarson
RE 5.6, WinXP/Pro, backing up to Hitachi-LG CR/RW with Imation 1-16x 700 mb CDRs. Last week I did the 1st backup, took 4 CDs. Verification went fine then. Today I did an incremental backup; backup went fine, ended up with 8 CDs. But at the verification stage, RE couldn't recognize the CD -- it keeps asking me to insert disk #4, i.e. it can't read the disk to which it just appended data. I said to skip this disk. It took disk 5, but I said to abort the backup at that point. When trying to restore files, it asks me for disk #3. I insert that, but it won't read it -- says the CD is write-protected. Is that related to my aborting the incremental backup? Is anything salvagable/usable from this backup set? What am I doing wrong?
AmyJ
While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Environment and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive. It would be normal for a disk to be write proteted when trying to restore from it - this only affects the abilty to write to it, not read from it. myrnalarson
I understand that, but I can't select the disk that's in the drive as the source. It keeps asking me for another disk.
