BGribben
Like a lot of people, I want to schedule Retrospect backups using "cron". I have encountered one little problem though ... If I am logged in at the terminal of my XServe, the cron-scheduled Retrospect job runs fine. You can even watch the Retrospect GUI display go through its paces if you're bored. However, if I'm not logged in at the terminal, Retrospect fails to start. To try to get a bit more information, I tried running a Retrospect run document from a remote login shell, e.g. something like prompt> open goBackup which failed with the following error message: kCGErrorIllegalArgument : initCGDisplayState : cannot map display interlocks. kCGErrorIllegalArgument : CGSNewConnection cannot get connection port INIT_Processes(), could not establish the default connection to the WindowServer.Abort ... so I guess the problem is with the display. I'm new to Retrospect and Mac OSX, so I could do with some help! Anyone who can help me out will be treated to a pint of the finest local ale on me, next time you're in Edinburgh Thanks Brian
