Major error in User's Guide

In the Retrospect Express User's Guide, there is a major error on p.22.

It says, "Don't save the catalog on a removable disk that will be used as a backup destination. With a file backup set, the file saved serves as both the catalog and respository of the backed-up files."

But if you are foolish enough to follow these instructions, then you will have back-up, not to your Maxtor external HD, but onto the HD, i.e., a useless backup.

So there is a catch 22 in the Retrospect software: you can't save the catalog of backed of files to the local HD and the actual backed files to the external HD, which is how it is supposed to be done.

When quoting text, it is generally appropriate to quote the _exact_ text and formatting rather then an amalgam.

From the Users Guide:

Do not save the catalog on a removable-cartridge disk that will be used as a backup destination. Retrospect Express needs to access the catalog on a local hard disk.

With a file backup set, the file you save from this window serves as both the catalog and the repository of the backed-up files. Save it on your designated backup drive.

--------

The first paragraph refers to a Disk backup set (removable-cartridge disk) such as Zip, Jaz, Orb, etc.

The next paragraph is referring to a File backup set, which is saved to a hard drive. A hard drive is not a disk cartridge and does not fall into the same category.
