old retro media new drive and version

Recommended Posts

I have an old backup set on 19 CDs that I burnt on my 7500 using a single user of Retrospect (whatever it was named back then in 1999 at the latest). The burner (which is gone) was a Mitzubishi Chemical 4X read/2x write/2x re-write CDR-W. The new configuration is Retrospect Workgroup 5.0.201 with the driver update plugin 3.1.105. The new CDR is a LaCie external Firewire device IDed as CD-RW CW-4586 and Matshita mechanism revision 1.01.

Here is what Retrospect is telling me.

When asking for a disc the Please insert window

"(prerecorded) [lock icon] Incompatible Panasonic CD-RW, Firewire-A"

Is there any solution for restoring files off this CD StorageSet? All cds are un-damaged.

This drive is not yet supported for use with Retrospect. For a list of currently qualified devices, please see:

Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. Some drives do not get qualified ever, and some take 6 months to a year to get support. We have no way of telling if this drive will be supported or not at this moment.

We add device support often though, so do check back with our Hardware Compatibility list.
