DaveH
I am using XP Pro and have Roxio EasyCD Creator / Direct CD on my machine. I am using a Yamaha CRW4416E with the 1.0j firmware. I stopped the the Direct CD process with task manager. In Retrospect Backup I get unknown status with a new (unformatted) Verbatim CD-RW. Is there a way to keep Direct CD from loading when I boot. I used to be able to do this with previous versions of Direct CD and Windows. I searched the Roxio web site and help files and found nothing. Any other ideas. Does the ASPIcheck apply to XP? I used to be able to do this with previous versions of Direct CD and Windows. You can disable DirectCD processes and startup items in Windows XP by going to Start > Run and typing msconfig. In the System Configuration Utility, go to Services and hide all Microsoft Services. Disable DirectCD services. Repeat for Startup. Reboot. DirectCD should no longer load on startup.
