Device - Tape Problem

Recommended Posts

I am running OS 10.2.2 and Retrospect 5.0.238 on a G4. I am using a Sony tape drive that has a magazine that holds 4 tapes. I recently switched the computer to admin Restrospect. I hooked up the tape drive, and installed Retropsect. Everything works the same, exccept when I go to the Configure tab and Devices. Retrospect sees the drive just fine, but I use to be able to select which of the four tapes I wanted or select erase all to erase all four tapes at once. This choice is not longer there, so not it is very time consuming to erase tapes or do a restore. Is this a setting on the tape drive itself? Is this a setting within Retropsect? I have looked at the setting in both places and I can not figure it out. Thanks!

If you go to Configure > Devices, do you see the tape drive listed and the loader slots? If not, check Configure > Devices > Device Status -- are both devices listed?

Were you running Retrospect on OS X previously or OS 9?

Does the Apple System Profiler see the tape drive and the loader?

What SCSI card are you using?

Did you find a solution for this?

I need help with the same problem.

I'm running OSx Ver 10.2.3 on a G4.

Backup software Retrospect 5.0 Server version.

Exabyte 210 scsi connection.

scsi card in G4 is 2930cu

The Retrospect software sees the backup unit

but will not see it as a library.

I can only see one tape and not the rest.

In Retrospect the software does not switch from

"Eject" to "loader" like it says in the book.

Any suggestions?

This was working on the 9.22 side.
