lynnleb
Is Express 5.5 compatible with Windows XP Home and if so, can I backup to a networked machine's hard drive?
AmyJ
5.6 was the first Windows XP compatible version of Retrospect. The current release is 6.0.
cma6j
Amy, can we upgrade from version 5.6 to 6.0? Will 6.0 be simpler to use for a full backup and incremental backups, which I have been unable to do in version 5.6. Thanks, Linda
AmyJ
Yes, there are upgrade paths available to version 6.0: http://www.dantz.com/upgrades/ The user interface is different, and we have a redesigned Disk backup feature which will allow you to backup to hard drive (in addition to the File backup set). Disk backup sets can now utilize hard drive space (rather then just removable cartridges) and can span multiple hard drives. The following tutorial follows many of the same steps outlined in your other post, regarding backing up to hard drive. However, in this example, the tutorial shows how to set up a Disk backup set with 6.0. In 5.6 and earlier, Disk backup sets could _only_ be used with removable cartridges. http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27441
