jreffner
When running Retrospect Desktop in OS X & 9, what is the more intelligent choice? Backing Up or Duplicating? I'm currently duplicating 2 OS 9 drives and an OS X drive to a single external Firewire drive. Any suggestions will be appreciated. sgripman
There isn't a "right" answer to such a question, but I'll pitch my own opinion here. I prefer to back up to a couple backup sets. Duplicating is good and hard drives are generally reliable, but having your data backed up in two places is, I think, preferable. If you can keep one set offsite, you're protected in case of catastrophe. The trade-off is data availability. Restoring is slower than grabbing a file off of the dupe. You could do a hybrid kind of thing where you make backups to go offsite and still duplicate regularly. Best of both worlds...
jreffner
Thanks for the information & opinion. If I ever find an affordable option for off-site backups, I might give it a try. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Jim
