Hugh Posted November 5, 2002 Report Share Posted November 5, 2002 Just purchased an external hard drive, loaded Retrospect Express. Set a backup program to back up my entire system to the 40G hard drive, or actually to back up the C and D drive on My Windows XP HE. As soon as I click immediate backup, that window comes up, it shows how many files and what size the total is that are remaining and then just sits there. The backup sequence never starts, the completed remains at zero, nothing changes from zeros in the performance or time remaining sections. Any suggestions? AmyJ Posted November 6, 2002 Report Share Posted November 6, 2002 Check the Operations Log for errors (Window > Log). Also, try disabling "system restore" from System Properties for "all drives". (This tab can be found by right clicking on my computer and going to properties). This will increase stability in WindowsXP when backing up to a hard drive.
