yelapa999
Does anyone have any experience with this machine and Retrospect 5.0? Is this one of the machines with a mechanism that only works at about 10 mb/minute with Retrospect? Thanks for any advice or perspective on this combination. Gary K. Guest
Have you checked the compatibility list for notes on your device? This is at: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=compatibility_list If you're not able to get any information from this, please provide details on your configuration: Retrospect Version and build Computer Model and speed OS X version and build Device (from Retrospect's Configure > Devices > Device Status window) Device firmware (in the version column of the Device Status window) Device interface Media brand and size Thanks, Irena Solomon Dantz Tech Support
yelapa999
While Dantz notes the specific limitations of its support for some drives, the notes for Apple's own products are sketchy and vague. Go to the page you referenced and you will see what I mean. Additionally, the drives mentioned there are not even listed in the list of manufacturers for general searches. My original question has to do not with whether the drive is supported. It has to do with how good the support (As a practical matter, 10 mb/minute is the same in my mind as no support at all). yelapa999
Excuse me. I thought you referenced this page: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27384 Information concerning your company's support for Apple OEM drives is not even available on the page you offered. My questions about that support still stand. Thank you.
Guest
I can't answer your question unless you answer mine Please provide: Retrospect Version and build Computer Model and speed OS X version and build Device (from Retrospect's Configure > Devices > Device Status window) Device firmware (in the version column of the Device Status window) Device interface Media brand and size
yelapa999
Actually, I ended up purchasing a Titanium 667 and have since discovered that Dantz's support for Jaguar is generally taken to be poor and that, indeed, the drive in my machine is one of the ones that backs up at approx. 10 mb/minute. My original question was a "presale" inquiry. Because of the poor support for this common hardware and for OS X, I will continue to wait...who knows? Maybe another company will step in with a back up solution that works with current equipment. Doesn't look like they are up against much competition going forward. Thank you for your help. yelapa999
Oops. There already is a backup solution that works great with CD's. Tri-backup works great. Plus, they seem to actually like providing support...all the way from France no less!
