Why does it have files 'remaining' in verify log and warning triangle?

Recommended Posts

I am on Retrospect 8.1.626 running on MacOS 10.6.4.

When I run a backup with verification, or if I run a separate verification, I get some entries in the log like:

7/1/2010 7:02:33 PM: Execution completed successfully

Remaining: 673 files, 16.3 GB

1. Why am I seeing the 'successful completion' with 'remaining' files?

2. Why do the number of backed-up files add-up correctly to match the verification, but the GB do not?

3. In the Activity monitor window, these backups have the yellow triangle next to the activity. I assume this means 'warning', though when I add the 'warnings' column to the Activity monitor there are 0 warnings, 0 errors. Can someone explain?

Avery

I got a warning triangle on this log, which has a "Remaining" on the verify (Media verify) pass:

So, have you found that the backups, themselves, are in-fact complete, and that this is just an issue on the verification side?

That's not clear. A test restore from that media set showed missing files, but it's not clear that it's related to the verify anomaly. For one thing there were more missing files than showed up in the verify "remaining files" count. No one seems to know what's going on with either the missing files in verify or the missing files on restore, or whether they are related in any way.
