Error 100 (Device Rejected Command)

I am using Retrospect Backup 5.0.205 on a Mac G4 500Mhz with an aftermarket Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 104 drive (my OEM DVD RAM drive failed twice). When doing backups to DVD-RW disks I consistantly get the error message:

 

 

 

Trouble writing media "Backup Set A" error 100 (Device Rejected Command)

 

 

 

It may happen on 1 disk, or 2 or more disks, and it's not consistant as to which disk it happens on.

 

 

 

I tried using a different brand of disk, from Memorex DVD-RW disks to TDK.

 

 

 

I started the system with Base extensions and included any extensions needed to run the backup.

 

 

 

I checked the compatibility list before upgrading to version 5.0 Desktop and it listed my drive and I am still having problems, what gives.

 

 

 

I installed the latest version of Apple Authoring Support v.1.1.9.

 

 

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently, the only Pioneer DVR-104 supported on the Macintosh is the Apple (built in) version of the drive with the following requirements:

 

 

 

Retrospect required components:

 

 

 

Retrospect 5.0

 

Retrospect SDAP Support 1.2 or later

 

 

 

::Extensions Requirements::

 

 

 

Option #1: Apple Extensions Needed (minimum versions):

 

 

 

Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.4.5

 

Apple Packet Media Access 1.0.1

 

SDAP Authoring Support 1.0

 

 

 

Option #2: Toast Extensions Needed (minimum versions)

 

 

 

Toast CD Reader 5.0.2

 

 

 

Minimum Operating System: Mac OS 9.1 with Authoring Support Update 1.1.3 and Toast

Hi Amy, thanks for the reply. I checked my system for these files and extensions you mentioned and I did notice that my Apple Packet Media Access 1.0.1 extension was NOT enabled, so I enabled it and now I get the error on every disk. : |

 

 

 

All the other files or extensions you mentioned meet or exceed your recommendations but nothing seems to help.

 

 

 

Any other suggestions?

The only other suggestion would be to try another brand of media. CD burners are very picky in regards to the media they use.
