engexperts
I am using Retrospect Pro 7.6 on XP Pro SP3. I have installed an Optiarc AD7240S. It is a SATA device. It shows the device in the Environment list but will not let me configure the device. I have used the same media in another computer with another Optiarc device (IDE instead of SATA.) Any thoughts of what I need to do to fix the problem?
rhwalker
Get a device that is supported. Retrospect supported devices database Russ
engexperts
I have the exact same device in another computer running XP PRO SP3. I had to configure the device, but it has been working successfully for the last 6 months. So supported device or not, it will work when it is configured. My problem is that Configure is greyed out. rhwalker
Ok, that's useful new information that wasn't present in the original post. Is it possible that there is some conflicting driver loaded at boot time that has taken charge of the device so that Retrospect can't get to it? engexperts
You may be right about the conflict with the device. The strange thing about it is that I can write to a DVD with Nero and then read it with Windows Explorer. I can read CD's on the device to install software. There is something about my setup that is making Retrospect decide that even though it is is an optical device, that it cannot configure it. Maybe it thinks it is a reader and not a read/write device.
