morphenine Posted December 10, 2009 Report Share Posted December 10, 2009 I'm trying to backup a single 20GB folder from my Xsan volume onto tape for longer term storage and so I can clear off space on the SAN. However when I select the folder and click go, it scans the entire volume before starting. This would be fine if it were a startup volume that I was backing up off of and took 5 minutes... But on a 35TB SAN volume, it takes about 9 hours to scan, and a few minutes to backup the 20GB. Is there any way to disable this unnecessary scanning? I found this thread, but it never seems to have been answered or resolved, the OP just shrugged it off: http://forums.dantz.com/showtopic.php?tid/30921/post/123737/#123737 Since I'm testing right now with the trial software this kind of hinderance is a deal breaker for me.
