Backup to Lite-On CD-RW

Recommended Posts

I'm having difficulty backing up to a Lite-On CD-RW drive.

My platform is a new Dell Pentium4 desktop running Win2000.

The CD-RW is Lite-On LTR-24102M, a 24x drive, firmware version 4DS7.

In Environment the driver is in bold: "Lite-On CD-RW (1.53)".

In Status, the drive and disk are present.

I have Retrospect 5.6.127 with RDU 3.1.103

I uninstalled DirectCD just in case, and rebooted.

In Retrospect I did an immediate backup to CD.

I inserted a new never-formatted 24x CD-R disk, Verbatim DataLifePlus.

File transfer started, then stopped with error -110 (device rejected command).

Trying again gave error -112 (can't erase/format media).

Then, the drive could not open a disk with known content until I quit Retrospect.

Impression: Retrospect tried to backup, quickly ran into a problem and stopped,

leaving a garbaged disk and grabbed drive.

Any ideas as to why I can't write to the CD?

Also, I tried to read info on the latest RDU at

www.dantz.com/index.php3?screen=options

as advised in a ReadMe, but that location didn't seem to exist.

Is there any relevant ReadMe info that I've missed?

Many thanks for any help,

Rob

This drive is not yet supported for use with Retrospect. For a list of currently qualified devices, please see: Hardware Search Enginecolor=blue>

Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. Some drives do not get qualified ever, and some take 6 months to a year to get support. We have no way of telling if this drive will be supported or not at this moment.

We add device support often though, so do check back with our Hardware Compatibility list.

  • 1 month later...

I'm having the exact same problem (Error -100 - Device rejected command) using Retrospect 5.6 and Driver 3.1 with my brand new Dell PC that came with the darn Lite-On CDRW drive (LTR-24102M version 4DS7 (1.53)). Uninstalling Roxio didn't help.

I've been a happy Retrospect user for years. I hope you'll support this drive soon. The "B" version of the drive is on the supported list, but not the "M" version.

Is this supported in v6.0?

Steve
