jswingchun
I have had a problem pop up two different times where for no reason, volumes on clients suddenly have a lock icon on them. When it happens, backups report that are no files to back up even thought there are. The only way I have been able to clear the locks off the volumes is to "forget" the client in the Backup Client Database window. This fixes it, but then I have to recreate all the source settings on every script that accessed that client. Anybody have any ideas what is going on? I am running OS X Server version 10.4.11 on the client and Server 10.3.9 on the backup server. I have Retrospect version 6.1.230 and client 6.2.234. twickland
If the client has enabled the "Private Files/Folders/Volumes" option, then any file, folder, or volume that begins with a "•" character will be inaccessible to Retrospect and cannot be backed up. My guess is that this may be what you're seeing.
jswingchun
Thanks for the reply, but the client is a server that I maintain, not a workstation that anyone has access to. None of the volumes I want to back up have been changed or renamed. The lock appears, I forget the volumes and bring them back and the lock is gone.
