CallMeDave
Can you unlock the file from the Finder's Get Info window? Can you hold the Option key when you empty the Trash?
johncharnock77
It is not locked in the Get Info area I can hold the option key and delete the trash ??
CallMeDave
I can hold the option key and delete the trash? You can certainly try. That's why I asked if you had (tried), in the hopes that you would tell us what happened. There are many flags in OS X, some of them can be over-ridden by Option+Empty, others that cannot. Whatever the attributes for the file are came from the Windows machine. It's unlikely you can't overcome whatever Finder unhappiness using other tools, such as Terminal or maybe something such as XRay (http://www.brockerhoff.net/xray) What does "ls -lo' show for the file? johncharnock77
I held the option key and deleted my trash, trash was deleted - what was supposed to happen ? These are definitely MAC files - the .* and ._ manifest themselves all over the place and don't like transferring from osx to fat although in this case it was FAT to FAT - ls -lo shows nothing
CallMeDave
what was supposed to happen ? Yes. No. I don't know. > these files are a windows application data directory files > These are definitely MAC files You're providing too little specific information and too many contradictions. > .* and ._ ... don't like transferring from osx to fat And? FAT can't handle filenames that other formats can. How does this fit in to your question? > ls -lo shows nothing Then you used it wrong; ls -lo will always show _something_.
