mpmcl
I am using Retrospect (supplied by OnStream), on a Dual-800 G4 with OS 9.2.2, with a FireWire connection to an OnStream tape drive. For some time now, I have been doing a monthly backup (successfully). However, I have found that my computer hangs for two minutes (!!) every time I boot up or restart UNLESS the tape drive is turned on. The culprit is the extension "Retrospect FireWire Support, version 4.3". If I disable this extension, then my computer boots normally (but I have not attempted a backup without it). Right now, I am using a "Retrospect-free" set of extensions for a normal boot and an extension set including Retrospect when I want to do a backup. Is there another/better solution to this problem? Thanks for any tips.
AmyJ
Try downloading the newest Extensions updater from the Dantz site: Updatescolor=blue> Disable any device specific extensions that are not in use. Does the problem occur if there is no tape in the drive?
