kenton Posted March 6, 2002 Report Share Posted March 6, 2002 I'm having a problem backing up a Linux system via Samba to my Windows 2000 server running Retrospect 5.6. I am able to set everything up, but part way through the backup everything freezes and all the users get locked out. I have to actually hard reboot the server and then usually have to clean the file system before it will stay up. I don't have the log anymore because it was a while ago and I'm not about to reproduce it... My theory is that is is related to file locking in Samba somehow; has anyone had experience with this? Is there someone who is successfully backing up from a Samba share? Of course a Linux client would be nice but I've been waiting for that for almost two years now...
