Clean out hard disk that is almost full

I am using Retrospect Express 6.5 with an external Western Digital hard drive and am running Windows XP Pro.

The backups have nearly filled up this external hard drive. How can I select which files or backup sets can be safely removed? I am doing progressive backups, not recyled backups. I understand that with progressive or incremental backups that the earlier backed up files and the latest are all needed to have all my old and newest files available for restoratiom.

I also noticed that I have a large Recycle Bin folder on the backup hard drive (G:). Is that a duplicate for my main C: hard drive, or is my system using the G: rather than the C: for routine storage of my Recycle Bin?

I have read some about Grooming, but that is not available in the 6.5 version.

Thanks
