2.0Gb limit despite HFS+

Recommended Posts

We have Retrospect Workgroup 5.0.205 running on a G3/333Mhz/128MbRAM Mac Server running Mac O/S9.1 and Appleshare IP 6.3.3

We backup from clients across the network onto a 80Gb Mac HFS+ formatted external FireWire hard drive with 2 x 40Gb partitions that is on different machine from the server (G4).

I continually get the error that retrospect can only backup 2Gb to this hardrive - according to the documentation on the dantz web site I am meeting all the requirements and should be able to backup 1Tb, as one job for me is usually over 2Gb this is a bit of a problem.

I hope someone can help.

Macintosh File backup sets are still limited to 2 GB if saved on a network volume different from the backup computer itself. This is due to a limit in AppleShare that prevents files of larger than 2 GB to se saved or shared over the network.
