2.0 G limit problem

Recommended Posts

I suppose this is a really dumb question. But I have just tried to do a backup of my hard disk to an external hard disk using Retrospect Express on a Maxter Hard Disk (it came bundled).

I got the message that the disk exceeeded the 2g file limit, and the operation was not completed.

Any suggestions?

I think I can answer this one. I hope someone answers my 2GB problem.

If you didn't reformat the drive by following the Maxtor User's Guide, you can reformat it by turning off the File Exchange extension and restarting the Mac. After a couple of minutes, it will tell you that the drive is not recognized and it will allow you to format it. Ensure that you format it in MAC OS Extended format.

After it has been reformatted, you can re-enable the File Exchange extension.

If you have formatted it with MAC OS Standard, you are in the same boat as I am in and I have a post outstanding in this forum. I cannot figure out a way to reformat the drive once it has already been formatted under Mac OS.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Walter
