basic question about dantz products

Recommended Posts

Would any Dantz product do this:

I want to be able to select individual files and folders and have them backed up on a regular basis. I would like to have the backup destination be a separate folder on my disk. (I would then use .Mac's Backup application to backup contents of that destination folder to the .Mac site). Or, I might designate another computer on my home network for backup.

Does Dantz or other backup products do this?

Thanks,

ken

I believe that the source (the volume which contains the files being backed up) and the destination (the volume that holds the backed up files) must be different.

You could make two partitions on your drive and backup one to the other. However, that would not be very secure in the event that your hard drive suffers a physical malfunction (as one of mine did.) The volumes should be distinct devices.

The rest of the things you wish to do can be done with Retrospect Desktop.
