ejmaso
I'm trying for the first time to create a CD-RW as a backup medium on an i-book with a CD-RW/ DVD drive. When I try to mount a new disk, I chose the format option of "reserve disk for Retrospect" and the "prepare" icon leads to no action. OS 9.1 with 256 MB memory. Retrospect ver 5.0 installed fine. 1. How can I tell whether the drive itself is a qualified one, without knowing the manufacturer? 2. Has anyone successfully used a CD-RW as a backup device on a similar ibook? AmyJ
The option to "Reserve for Retrospect" tells the system that no formatting or other action is necessary, essentially telling the OS to leave the disk alone. You can find out the make and model of your CD burner through Retrospect. Configure > Devices > Device Status The supported device list can be found at: www.dantz.com/hardware
