kapland
Using Mac G4, OS 9.0.4 and Retrospect Express 5.0 to Duplicate files from a Snap! file server to an external firewire hard drive, I encounter seemingly random "erorr -34 (volume full)" messages in my log stating that some files have not been backed up. Another anomoly is that my firewire drive is not full; in fact the destination drive is several gigabites larger than the server I'm backing up. Here is a sample of my log, any assistane is appreciated. + Duplicate using Users > Andrew at 5/1/2002 7:07 PM - 5/1/2002 7:07:20 PM: Copying Andrew on MMNStoreage on STANWOOD… Can't write file “Apr25env.jpg”, error -34 (volume full), path: “Andrew:AndrewWW1:Apr25env.jpg”. Guest
Do a Get Info on the FireWire drive; how much room does it have? How is it formatted? Can you drag that file over from the Snap Server? Are you doing a full duplicate? If so, are you using "Replace Entire Disk" or "Replace Corresponding Files"?

kapland
It has zero k, but I don't see how it could have been filled after 2 backups since the destination (Firewire) drive is nearly twice as large as the total memory of the files I'm trying to back up. It's formatted as Mac OS Standard, and I can't drag and drop files because it's full. Maybe the duplicate backup is writing new files every time I edit one of the originals?
