reyhoward
Hi: Please help! I have a lot of huge video files that I need to back up, so when I found out about the 2 gig file-size limit in Express 4.3, I immediately upgraded to 5.0. I did a big backup of all of my video files to DVDs, and everything went just fine. Then I tried (several times) to do a full hard-drive backup to a drive on my network, but I wasn't able to get it to work. Just as it looks like it's about to start actually backing up files, the process stops and I get me the following messages in the log: + Executing Immediate Backup at 4/12/2002 17:05 To backup set DailyCreaStaBackup… - 4/12/2002 17:05:54: Copying Macintosh HD… Can't add that much data to backup set. The limit is 2.0 G. 4/12/2002 17:06:01: Execution incomplete. Remaining: 49191 files, 47.6 GB Completed: 0 files, zero KB Performance: 0.0 MB/minute Duration: 00:00:07 (00:00:06 idle/loading/preparing) 4/12/2002 17:06:01: Execution incomplete. Why is it not working? Why am I getting "The limit is 2.0 G" in 5.0? Please help! Thanks, Rey
ZakB
Due to Apple File Protocol networking limits, network backups are limited to 2 GB over the network. This is true for ALL Apple operating systems.
RickL
Is there a work around for the 2 gb limit. I didn't think that I could tell express to limit the size of a file backup set - that would allow me to use multiple backup sets. Manually selecting which files to backup to keep the backup unter 2gb is a very long and slow process, since express wants to scan all 100,000 files first. How about a file size limit to sets in express?
