Adding an OS X(10.2.6) to Rerospect version 5.0.238

Recommended Posts

I have a computer(OS 10.2.6 Retrospect version 5.0.540) which was backing up fine over a network. But starting last week, Retrospect server could no longer see the computer on the Network. So I removed the client software and re-installed it. Now I can see this computer on my server Network selection. But when I attempt to add it, I get "Can't log in, error -1028 (client is not visible on the network)"

I've about 6 other server which are giving me the same error.

Any ideas???

Thanks...

I constantly forget which symptoms go with which problems, but this is one I've seen before. Check two things: (1) that either the firewall is turned off in the System Preferences -> Sharing pane or the Retrospect port, 497, is open (with a check), and (2) that the Retrospect client was *not* installed off a network disk. If you put the client installer on a network disk to make it easily available, make sure you copy the installer to the local disk before running it.
