njh
I just installed Retrospect on one machine, entered all my codes, and installed Retrospect client on another machine. I can turn on the Client, but it turns itself off after 12 seconds. It appears on the server, but trying to log in results in an error: "Can't log in, error -1028 (client is not visible on network)", presumably because it's turning itself off. Here's a tcpdump [tcpdump igmp or port 497]: 16:40:59.602153 192.168.1.4.50547 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:40:59.661520 192.168.1.7 > 224.1.0.38: igmp v2 report 224.1.0.38 [ttl 1] 16:40:59.693439 192.168.1.7.49169 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:01.691543 192.168.1.4.50548 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:01.693856 192.168.1.7.49171 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:03.694282 192.168.1.7.49173 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:03.781539 192.168.1.4.50549 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:05.702878 192.168.1.7.49175 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:05.871498 192.168.1.4.50550 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:07.012328 192.168.1.7 > 224.1.0.38: igmp v2 report 224.1.0.38 [ttl 1] 16:41:07.703334 192.168.1.7.49177 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:07.961438 192.168.1.4.50551 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:09.703806 192.168.1.7.49179 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:10.050800 192.168.1.4.50552 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:12.141029 192.168.1.4.50553 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] 16:41:12.141956 192.168.1.7.dantz > 192.168.1.4.50553: udp 196 16:41:12.711925 192.168.1.7 > all-routers.mcast.net: igmp leave 224.1.0.38 [ttl 1] 16:41:14.210520 192.168.1.4.50554 > 224.1.0.38.dantz: udp 196 [ttl 1] I've tried uninstalling the client and reinstalling it to no avail. Any idea what could be causing this? Both machines are running Mac OS X 10.2.3 and I just installed from a new CD that I received 2 days ago. AmyJ
Make sure you're using the Jaguar compatible version of the client 5.0.540, available from: Updatescolor=blue> Clean install the client (uinstall the old client and install the 5.0.540 client).
