rhbellmor Posted July 19, 2002 Report Share Posted July 19, 2002 Recently I have noticed that backup speeds differ greatly from night to night. I have the same script running each night backing up to a different tape for each day of the week. Two or three days in a row the backup speeds are around 40 MB/Min and then for a day or two the speed goes down to 3 MB/Min. There is no pattern, some Tuesdays I get high speed and some Tuesdays I get 3 MB/Min. No one is working at night during backups and there are no network functions being run. Any thoughts? If you have a mixture, try looking in your operations log (Reports > Log) or in your backup report (Reports > Report) for backup performance. Are the slow speeds on every computer? Only on network / client computers? Only on specific comptuers? Is there a discernable pattern? The goal is to first isolate where the bottleneck is coming from and then move forward.
