Exabyte VXA-2 tape drive

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New to Retrospect. Using older version 6. Retrospect doesn't recognize the tape drive. I've installed the drivers and all the firmwares. Looked at the Storage Devices (Environment) this is what it display.

10:4 Exabyte vxa-2 2122 (no drivers)

Am I doing something wrong? Was there suppose to be a driver displayed? I tried searching within forums for answer, with no luck. Can someone assist?

Thanks,

John

John,

A little more information is needed in order to answer your question.

(1) exactly which Exabyte VXA-2 are you using? (there are several). In other words, is it in an autoloader? What is the interface (SCSI, ATAPI, Firewire, etc.)?

(2) exactly which "version 6" of Retrospect are you using? (full version number - 6.x.y)

(3) exactly what Retrospect product do you have? (professional, etc.)

(4) and just for safe measures, what version of Windows and what hardware do you have?

Russ,

Sorry was in a hurry and never thought about additional informations:

(3) exactly what Retrospect product do you have? (professional, etc.)

Well, I don't know what the "u/f/d/j/i/e" is. And there should be a build number that Retrospect prints in its log.

But this seems to be enough information to answer your question.

The Retrospect databases of supported devices indicates that Retrospect 6.0 is required for this drive, and you've got that:

Retrospect Supported Devices - Exabyte VXA-2 SCSI

But I think you are missing the required driver update. That's here for Retrospect 6.0:

Retrospect Driver Update

See if that helps.
