isaiah Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Dear Friends, Please help. I keep getting "Can't use Open File Backup option for Acer (C:) error -1017 (insufficient permission). I've done all the obvious things, like renaming the Retrospect file and making sure that I am logged in as the right person; no luck. Having spent the better part of the day on it, I need some help! r33Uj9d Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Does the volume you're trying to backup contain any junction points pointing to other volumes? I have seen this cause open-file backup failures at least when VSS does not support the other volume.
isaiah Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks, r33, for replying. Sorry to be vague, but I'm not sure what you mean by junction points. We are not very sophisticated users, but the Acer hard drive is partitioned into 2 drives, the D drive being called Acer Data. ij
