azgradziel
I'm using Retrospect Express for Windows 5.6(and I've run the patch 'rdu30.exe')on a HP Pavilion with an AMDXP1900+ processor and Windows XP Home. I back up my C drive to a file on a 40gb second hard drive labelled F. When I start to do an incremental backup to the original Backup Set the program freezes and my HD light stays on. I can close Retrospect Express only with Task Manager but light stays on. Only way I can shut down the machine is to do it manually. What's my problem and how can I solve it. AmyJ
Windows XP has a "System Restore" feature turned on by default. To increase backup stability try turn off "System Restore" from System Properties for "all drives" by going to: Control Panels > System > System Restore. azgradziel
Thanks for your prompt help. I'll try it but I'm not sure I'll like not having the System Restore feature available.
azgradziel
Amy: It looks like your suggestion worked. In my first reply I didn't realize that I could turn off System Restore on my backup drive (F) and keep it on C. But I could and I did and now my incremental backup is working OK. Many thanks for your help.
