Retrospect Failing to initialize - Article 7981

I'm getting error msg Oxc0000005 - Failing to Initialize. I found article 7981 that tells me to go through My computer all the way to the Data Execution Tab. It says "if you see an entry for Windows Explorer" remove it. Well I don't see Windows Explorer but I do see Windows Installer. Can I still remove that and have Restrospect start up as it should? Or will I create a new problem? I'd appreciate anyone's input. I'm using windows xp with a Maxtor One Touch.
