blackbox Posted September 29, 2006 Report Share Posted September 29, 2006 Blackbox LTO 2 backup system is: G4 dual 1.25 1.5gigs ram, OSX 10.4 (Two) Atto dual channel 3U cards w current drivers. 1 card for tape device, the other for the storage. LTO 2 Dell 122T Autoloader Retrospect version 6.1.130 - driver 6.1.7.101 Having terrible speed issues with recording/restoring of LTO tapes. Mainly restoring previous backups. Tapes are very very slow to restore now, it would take a week to restore 100 gigs. And some tapes start off fine for 5 minutes and slow to a crawl. Our machine was working fine 6 months ago, and then something (upgrade, software change) turned our life to hell. Some tapes can't be read .. puttting the machine into perm read mode. I moved the LTO over to the SGI and it worked flawlessly. Back to the Mac and its crawling. I have tried to follow the known issues with the Atto 3U cards and the current version of Retrospect. As well as returning to the older version 6.0.212 to try and fix the problems. I am ready to try the new scsi card route , has the Atto 4U or 5U worked for most people?
