brittaf99
Hi. I have a machine running Windows 2000 SP2 that has a Seagate Tapestor Travan 20 GB USB tape drive on it that uses Retrospect 5.6 to run nightly backups. Scheduled backups stopped working a few weeks ago. Error 206 "bad heads or dirty heads". Purchased new tapes with no change. Did diagnostics on drive and it appeared to be faulty. Did RMA on drive. Have new drive now, still getting the same error. What is really interesting is that the immediate backup works just fine, which indicates to me that the tapes are fine. Any thoughts? Any thoughts? So what you are saying is that Automated backups fail with error 206 consistently, yet Immediate backups consistently work? Try setting a script schedule to run 2 minutes in the future. Quit and wait. Do you see the error? Does the new drive pass the diagnostics test?
